Queenonline meetup

Hi Everyone - thought it was about time to share with you what happened on the Queen Online meetup back in November :-)  Enjoy reading!!

Trina and I met around 9.30am (ish) in town to get a bacon sarnie before heading down to the train station. We had a good ol natter and headed down to the station. We were meeting friends on the train and agreed to save a table seat for us all. We did have seats booked but we’d all booked them at separate times so wouldn’t have been sat together. I was panicking because I didn’t think we would be able to save a table seat for that long. Luckily we did and Fairy joined us okay as we’d been waving at her through the window LOL…. The journey went pretty smoothly after that, we all had a good laugh and a natter. After a trip to the buffet car Sarah pulled out her small bottle of vodka and added bits to the tango they had bought. Not one for drinking I asked if I could have some and Trina was a bit shocked, but she joined in. Soon we were getting louder and you have to feel sorry for the rest of the carriage. Luckily we weren’t singing though lol……

Sometime around lunchtime we pulled into Paddington and met Gavin. It was so nice to see these people again. We all went down to the tube station and headed towards Tottenham Court Road, as we were meeting everyone else at the St Giles, which is just around the corner from the Dominion.

When we got there, there was only a small amount of people waiting, Someone got a round of drinks and more vodka was consumed. It was only 2pm and we didn’t have to be at the Dominion until just before 7.30pm. As the afternoon wore on, more drinks were consumed, more people turned up, silliness ensued and a good time was generally had by all. We got to meet lots of people from the online community; it was great to put names to faces finally!!

At some point food was mentioned. We had all been drinking rather a large amount of alcohol and most of us hadn’t eaten since breakfast so Fairy and Funster suggested we get "cheesy" chips. In the end we got 4 bowls shared between about 8 of us, These chips are the most heavenly things I have ever had and said to Trina that if we ever go back to London we have to go for more!!! A big bowl of chips is delivered with cheese on top and bacon bits all sprinkled around - as I said before heaven!! Go taste them for yourself they come highly recommended!! I think I’d managed to have at least, seven, lemonade and vodka’s at St Giles and this doesn’t include the ones on the train. By the time we were due to walk round to We Will Rock You I had a banging headache and at some point I did stop drinking in the hopes it would go away.

We will rock you is a fantastic show, Trina and I have been to see it at least 4/5 times before this one. Never have we been and sat in amongst friends, fellow die hard Queen fans. To say we had fun was a bit of an understatement. We were dancing in the aisles and generally having a good time. (We will rock you online however will tell you that we were rude, loud and ruined it for everyone else in the theatre. This is coming from someone who’s been to see it 35 times!!! My response to that person GET A LIFE!!! Jeez if I’d been to see it that many times I probably would’ve been sat there just trying to enjoy it for a show, not dancing around like I was. Considering the amount of money that is spent for Trina and I to get there and see it, it’s not surprising we are going to enjoy ourselves regardless of what people think grrrrr sorry to go about it!!!) So far as we were concerned the cast were enjoying the fact they were getting a response from us and more often than not came to our side of the stage and were smiling, etc. It’s the first show we’d seen with the latest cast change. I thought everyone did well, but Trina thought differently, but we won’t go into that LOL…… At the end when the cast and the band come to the front of the stage for bows etc, we all noticed Spike Edney was there. Personally I didn’t think he would be as he’d been playing keyboards for the band on the latest tour. Chants of ‘Spikey is a legend’ ensued and his face was a picture lol… he looked so confused as if to say what is going on?? Bless him.

After the show finished and on a high we all piled back to St Giles for more drinking and merriment!! Alessia, Jamie, Sarah, Gavin, Fairy, Funster, Cat , Matt and Andy (the usual gang from the tour), were reunited and it was a great feeling. We also met new people, Qnick (excuse me for using sign on names!!), Charlie, Sam, Andy (aka Vivid), Gordie and his girlfirend, Parky (although we did meet him briefly in Cardiff), Loretta, Fairdandy, Holly, Terry, Maggie Bob and many more!! Vern had been there earlier and it was nice to chat to him. He and Jules had been to shows in Japan and he told me of the nightmares they had faced and also the joys at extra songs being played etc… It was a shame Jules hadn’t made it but hopefully we shall meet up with her again at some point.

The hot topic of conversation at the meet up was of course the American shows and whether we should go or not. At one point Sarah and Gavin were outside and it looked like they were having an argument or something. They weren’t coz when they came back inside they declared that they had just bought tickets to see the band in Saettle (I think!!)

Cat had decided to get a room at the hotel. The original plan was that we stay with Jamie at her flat, but Cat would prefer that if she wanted to go to bed she could. She let us kip down in her room, so we dumped our bags in there and continued on with the festivities. More drink, more laughter and Sarah and some of the others sang Take That songs……grrrrr…….(was never a fan of them!!) Cat went to bed fairly early as she had a banging headache but promised to let us in whenever we went up there.

The bar closed at some point and everyone moved up to the lounge. We all took whatever drink we had left and gathered around the seats. Fairy was falling asleep, Gordie had his laptop and was playing music on it. Loretta said that we could now officially call ourselves the QOL elite That’s impressive considering I hardly ever go there and Trina NEVER goes there!! LOL…. I had drunk far too much wine and was feeling sleepy to by about 12/2 ish I can’t remember which one… I headed up to bed.

Trina told me that the party continued on with people drinking, (apparently there was a vending machine that was giving out alcohol), and games were played. She has even videoed people singing Radio Ga Ga rather drunkenly. When she came upstairs she had been followed by Qnick, 18 year old student, who had no money and didn’t have a clue where he was staying. As Trina and I hadn’t booked the room she said she couldn’t let him in, but being the big softie she was, he followed her in and slept on the floor. Trina disappeared not long after she came in and that scared me!!! Apparently she had gone downstairs to use the loo as she didn’t wanna wake us up. Ha I already was awake!!!

Next morning Qnick left fairly early. Trina, Cat and myself got up and out of the hotel by about 11ish. Trinaand I planned to go stalking, but we tried to find somewhere where we could have some brekkie with Cat. Having walked the length of Oxford Street, and not finding anywhere we made our way to the tube. Cat got off at Victoria and went home. Trina and I continued to stalk. After a fairly long walk, we went back to Paddington and met Fairy. Sarah had caught the earlier train in the vain hope she might get to work but that didn’t happen. The rest of us went into a café to have something to eat and sat there until we had to catch the train, We were all very tired but a good time was had by all.

There you go - hope you had a good weekend.

Best wishes

P.s thanks to Trina for typing this entry ;-)
